Deborah moved to Furness in 2003 as a singer and singing teacher and has been working as a choral conductor since 2008.
She studied linguistics in Reading and Poznan, Poland and singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has been the Musical Director of Barrow Male Voice Choir since 2017, enjoying leading the choir in concerts and competitions, encouraging recruitment and exploring old and new repertoire.
She is an experienced arranger of choral music and has begun composing vocal music.
She directs three other choirs, the Ghyll Singers, Ulverson Choral Society and Barrow Posh Choir, based at North West Music Academy, of which she is a director and trustee.
She plays the organ at St. Mary's Duke Street, Barrow, on Sundays and is chair and first trombone of the Dalton Town Band. She is a great collaborator and delights in bringing people together to create new musical experiences.
